Who it fits
Good fit for
This tub suits couples who want a dedicated home spa experience without sacrificing floor space. The 72-inch length fits standard alcove layouts while offering room for two. If you value hydrotherapy, the ten jets target key muscle groups like the back and legs. The chromatherapy feature adds a calming visual element for evening baths. It is also a practical choice for those who prefer easy-to-clean acrylic surfaces over more complex materials.
Who should skip it
Skip this model if you need a single-person compact tub or have a very small bathroom. The 72-inch footprint requires significant clearance for installation and access. If you prefer a deep soaking tub without jets, the whirlpool system may not suit your needs. Also, note that the drain is located on the left side; ensure your plumbing aligns with this configuration. Those seeking a built-in panel might find the integral apron less flexible for custom surrounds.
Verdict: The Empava 72 offers a solid two-person whirlpool experience with strong jet power and generous dimensions. It is a practical choice for alcove installations where space and shared relaxation are priorities.
Key specs explained for this tub
Length: 72 inches
This length provides a generous footprint for two adults to sit side by side. You will have enough room to stretch out without crowding. It suits couples who want shared relaxation time. When shopping, compare this to standard 60-inch tubs, which are too narrow for two people. The extra width and length ensure comfortable seating for both users.
Water Capacity: 110 gallons
A 110-gallon capacity holds a substantial volume of water. This allows for deep soaking and better heat retention during longer baths. You will use more water per fill, so consider your water heater capacity. Compare this to smaller soaking tubs that hold under 50 gallons. The large volume supports the whirlpool jets and maintains warmth for extended sessions.
Soaking Depth: 15.9 inches
This depth allows water to cover your torso when seated. You will experience full body immersion for effective hydrotherapy. It is deep enough to relax shoulders and back muscles. Compare this to shallow tubs that only cover the hips. The 15.9-inch level ensures you stay warm and supported, making it ideal for therapeutic soaks and stress relief.
Material: Acrylic
Acrylic provides a smooth, glossy surface that is easy to clean. It retains heat better than fiberglass or steel. You will benefit from a warm, comfortable touch against your skin. Compare this to colder materials like cast iron or steel. The acrylic construction is also lightweight yet durable, making installation easier while maintaining a premium look for your bathroom.
Design and build quality
The Empava 72" tub is constructed from 100% glossy white acrylic, reinforced with fiberglass for added durability. According to the listing, this composite material choice ensures a scratch-resistant surface that remains extra-smooth and easy to clean. You will benefit from a low-maintenance finish that resists wear over time. The integral apron design allows for straightforward alcove installation, giving you direct access to the pump for maintenance without removing the entire unit.
Weighing 196 pounds, this two-person whirlpool tub requires a floor capable of supporting the combined weight of the structure and its water load. The exterior dimensions measure 72 inches in length, 48 inches in width, and 24 inches in height. Inside, the usable space measures 44 inches long, 32 inches wide, and 19 inches high. The drain is positioned on the left side, which you should verify against your existing plumbing layout before purchasing.
The tub holds 110 gallons of water, reaching a soaking depth of 15.9 inches to the overflow. This capacity supports the 1.2 HP motor that drives ten adjustable hydromassage jets. The control system manages both water intensity and chromatherapy lighting. You can adjust jet direction and pressure to target specific muscle groups. The glossy white finish complements standard bathroom fixtures, while the reinforced acrylic body provides structural integrity for daily use by two adults.
Setup and everyday use details
Installation requires careful planning due to the tub’s substantial footprint and weight. The unit measures 72 inches in length and 48 inches in width, making it a significant addition to any bathroom. Weighing 196 pounds, the empty tub demands a sturdy floor structure. You will need to ensure your flooring can support this load when filled with water. The listing notes an integral apron, which simplifies alcove installation by providing a finished front panel. This design allows you to mount the tub directly into a wall enclosure without additional framing for the front.
The drain is located on the left side, so you must position the plumbing accordingly. The water capacity is 110 gallons, which adds considerable weight once filled. You should verify that your home’s plumbing lines can handle this volume efficiently. The soaking depth reaches 15.9 inches to the overflow, providing ample coverage for your body while seated.
Daily use involves activating the 1.2 HP motor to drive ten adjustable whirlpool jets. You can direct water flow toward your back, legs, or hands to target specific muscle groups. The system also includes chromatherapy lights that change color, allowing you to set a specific mood. The glossy white acrylic surface is easy to wipe down after use. Regular cleaning maintains the scratch-resistant finish, ensuring the tub remains smooth and hygienic for subsequent sessions.
Before you buy this tub
Owning this Empava 72 requires planning for the plumbing and electrical needs. The listing specifies a 1.2 HP motor to drive the ten adjustable jets. You must verify your bathroom has a dedicated electrical circuit capable of handling this load. The drain is positioned on the left side, so check your existing plumbing layout to ensure compatibility. Upkeep involves cleaning the glossy white acrylic surface, which the manufacturer states is scratch-resistant and easy to maintain. The integral apron design simplifies alcove installation but requires access to the pump area. Compared to smaller soaking tubs, this two-person unit demands more floor space. It suits those prioritizing hydrotherapy and shared relaxation over minimalist design. Ensure your floor can support the 196-pound empty weight plus water. This option fits best in larger bathrooms where the 72-inch length and 48-inch width do not obstruct movement.
