Who it fits
Good fit for
You will like this tub if you want a traditional clawfoot aesthetic without sacrificing modern durability. The 55-gallon capacity suits those who enjoy long, hot soaks. The reinforced acrylic shell resists stains and scratches, making it low-maintenance. If you prefer chrome hardware and a black exterior, this model delivers that specific look. It fits well in bathrooms where a freestanding statement piece is desired but space is still a consideration.
Who should skip it
Skip this option if you need a compact tub for a small powder room or tight layout. The 59-inch length and 28.4-inch width require significant floor space. You might also look elsewhere if you prefer a built-in surround rather than exposed feet. The chrome finish on the hardware is not brushed nickel or oil-rubbed bronze, so check your other fixtures. If you need a tub with a lower profile than 29.5 inches, this height may be too tall for your setup.
Verdict: This is a solid choice for those seeking a durable, high-capacity clawfoot tub with a distinct black and chrome aesthetic. It fits well in spaces that can accommodate its substantial footprint and weight.
Key specs for this tub
Type: Clawfoot Tub
This style stands on four legs rather than sitting flush against the floor. You get a classic, freestanding look that fits traditional bathrooms. The elevated design makes cleaning the floor underneath easier. It also allows air to circulate around the tub, which can help keep the exterior cooler during a soak.
Length: 59 inches
This length accommodates most adult body sizes comfortably. You can stretch out fully without your feet touching the rim. It fits standard bathroom layouts but requires adequate floor space. When comparing, check your room dimensions to ensure you have enough clearance for the tub and surrounding fixtures.
Water Capacity: 55 gallons
This volume holds a substantial amount of water for a deep soak. It keeps you submerged longer, which helps maintain warmth during your bath. Heavier water weight means your floor must support the load. Verify your home’s floor structure can handle the weight when the tub is filled.
Width: 28.4 inches
This width provides enough room to sit comfortably without feeling cramped. It allows for natural arm placement and gentle movement in the water. The profile is not overly wide, making it suitable for medium-sized bathrooms. Compare this to narrower models if you have tight space constraints.
Height: 29.5 inches
This height includes the feet and the tub rim. You must consider the total rise when planning your bathroom layout. It may require a step or bench for easier entry and exit, especially for shorter users or those with mobility issues. Measure your doorways to ensure delivery is possible.
Design and build materials
The listing states the tub is constructed from 100% high-gloss black Lucite acrylic. This shell is reinforced with Ashland resin and fiberglass. These materials are noted as top quality and are rarely used by other brands due to their higher cost. The exterior surface is black, while the interior is white. This two-tone finish creates a distinct visual contrast. The acrylic surface is described as stain-resistant and scratch-resistant. It maintains a high gloss that stays bright and clean over time. You can expect easy maintenance with this material choice.
The tub stands on polished chrome feet. The listing includes a brass drain and overflow fixture, also in polished chrome. These hardware choices complement the black exterior. The overall dimensions are 59 inches long, 28.3 inches wide, and 29.5 inches deep. The effective water capacity is 55 gallons. This size allows it to fit a variety of bathroom spaces without overwhelming them. The gently sloping lines follow natural body curves for comfort. The package weighs 115 pounds, which indicates a sturdy build. The tub itself weighs 99 pounds according to the specs. This weight suggests stability once installed on its feet. The design balances luxury with practical space requirements.
Setup and everyday use notes
Setting up this WOODBRIDGE clawfoot tub involves handling a substantial package. The listing notes the item weighs 99 pounds, though the shipping carton weighs 115 pounds. You will receive the black exterior tub with a white interior, along with polished chrome feet and a brass drain and overflow assembly in polished chrome. The package also includes a user manual. The manufacturer uses a firm carton box to protect the tub during transport, which suggests careful unpacking is necessary to preserve the high-gloss finish.
In daily use, the tub’s dimensions matter for your bathroom layout. At 59 inches long, 28.4 inches wide, and 29.5 inches high, it requires a dedicated floor space. The 55-gallon water capacity means you will need a faucet system that can fill this volume efficiently. The elevated clawfoot design keeps the tub off the ground, which simplifies cleaning the floor beneath it.
Maintenance is straightforward due to the surface properties. The high-gloss Lucite acrylic is described as stain-resistant and scratch-resistant. This means you can wipe it down easily without worrying about dulling the finish. The white interior contrasts with the black exterior, so you can monitor water clarity easily. The chrome drain and overflow add a classic touch but require regular polishing to maintain their shine. Overall, the tub is built for long-term use with minimal special care.
Check dimensions and plumbing first
Before you buy this WOODBRIDGE BTA1842-C-Feet+C-Drain bathtub, verify your bathroom dimensions. The tub is 59 inches long and 28.4 inches wide. Ensure you have enough floor space for this freestanding clawfoot design. You must also check your plumbing compatibility. The listing includes a polished chrome brass drain and overflow, but you need to confirm your existing pipes match this configuration. Water capacity is 55 gallons, so ensure your hot water heater can replenish this volume efficiently. Upkeep involves wiping the high-gloss black Lucite acrylic surface. The material is stain and scratch-resistant, making maintenance straightforward. This tub suits those who prefer a classic, elevated look over modern, low-profile soaking tubs. It stands out in the Bathtubs & Soaking Tubs category for its traditional aesthetic. Consider the 99-pound weight for floor support if you live in an upper-story apartment. The white interior contrasts with the black exterior, requiring regular cleaning to maintain brightness. Verify the chrome feet finish matches your other bathroom fixtures for a cohesive look.
